You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Training Command of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND. Initial consideration for this announcement is limited to the number of applications listed at the top of this announcement. Duties

You will review and develop training materials, perform a variety of administrative duties related to the formal training environment, and other job-related duties as assigned by senior personnel. You will use approved materials/ methods to prepare and present formal classroom and laboratory instruction on theory and application of basic mathematics, electricity and electronics, including the use of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment. You will review course materials for effectiveness, technical accuracy and compliance with current directives and methodologies, and recommend changes through the appropriate channels. You will prepare and submit required training-related documents, including but not limited to Student Academic Records, Training Schedules, Training Support Equipment Requirements, Rosters, Laboratory Equipment Inventories. You will counsel students on academic matters and recommend disposition of students experiencing academic or personal problems.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain/maintain a “Favorably Adjudicated” Access national Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) WITH Secret Security Eligibility. This requires submitting a new ANACI Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) every 10 years.
  • Incumbent must be willing to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing and revising course materials; AND conducting formal and informal training programs with current methodologies; AND applying knowledge of the principles of algebra and electronics theory in a formal training environment; AND communicating orally and in writing to maximize the training and reporting process. Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

  • Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
  • Supervising or administering a training program.
  • Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
  • Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria.
