About the Position: Incumbent will serve as an Administrative Assistant (Office Automation) for the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Duties
This list of duties is not all-inclusive:
Responsible for overseeing the administrative functions of the office.
Prepare reports from assembled data.
Coordinate with associated offices or organizations to ensure completion of projects.

Responsible for maintaining office records.
Draft correspondence in response to requests for information.
Serve as organization timekeeper.
Monitor and track civilian personnel actions.
Assist with the execution of ceremonies for the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the services of a qualified typist.
- This position may require temporary duty (TDY) for up to 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves all aspects of administrative management functions such as scheduling and coordinating meetings, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining calendar, arranging for conferences and meetings, and gathering data for reports.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Please see the specific instructions regarding supporting documentation for Time in Grade requirements in the REQUIRED DOCUMENTS section, below.
NOTE: Applicants must meet all Time-in-Grade requirements and experience requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
