You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Chief Engineer (Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will assign work to personnel, ensure timely completion and quality of work, resolve conflicts between support personnel and other organizational entities and coordinates the work of these personnel in the interest of designated objectives.
You will recommend action on personnel matters, including performance ratings, initiating disciplinary and commendatory actions, selections, promotions, demotions, transfers, and separation of employees, and the approval or disapproval of leave.
You will supervise a workforce of approximately thirty (30) employees, assigned to create Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) for Ship Change Documents (SCDs).
You will take an active role managing the job planning, estimating, material management and Ship Installation Drawing (SID).
You will ensure modernization work is clearly defined by the customer, and that estimates are provided to the Business and Strategic Planning Office (BSPO) for customer authorization.
You will oversee all material identification, and resolve any issues encountered by the Production Department or Alteration Installation Team (AIT) for installation.
You will assist in the development of Key Event and Milestone groupings, as well as a timely, accurate, resource balanced, and achievable schedule which supports Production execution of work.
You will supervise the resolution of problems that arise in the packaging or execution, testing and certification of the modernization within approved technical standards and the current scope of work definition.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a broad technical knowledge and understanding of scientific and engineering principles applied to U.S. Naval ships maintenance, repair and construction, reactor plant fundamentals, and operation processes including engineering, planning, estimating, production, scheduling, and testing.
Experience providing quality, timely planning support within budget for the repair and overhaul of naval ships or submarines.
Experience meeting availability schedules of varying sizes in support of repair and overhaul projects of naval ships or submarines.
Experience investigating, evaluating, advising on, and resolving unusual problems, issues, and conditions relating to the repair and overhaul of naval ships or submarines.
