This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Washington, DC of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support by conducting projects in support of the Corporation's effort to identify, monitor and address existing and emerging aggregate risks to the Corporation's deposit insurance funds.

Duties
Gathers, analyzes and presents financial information pertaining to the Deposit Insurance Fund, the financial services industry, financial markets, and FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, as well as national and regional economic developments.
Presents analytical results to the management and professional staff of the Division, the FDIC and other organizations with an interest in these topics.
Performs analysis, using appropriate software tools, of the financial services industry, the financial markets, FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, with particular emphasis on developments affecting insured institutions.
Performs mathematical and statistical calculations related to industry analysis.
Develops and coordinates processes, with the use of advanced technology, to aid in efficient production of the Division's various work products.
Participates in the production of FDIC publications to disseminate analysis to supervisory personnel, senior management of the Corporation, other regulators, the industry and the public.
Undertakes diplomatic initiatives on behalf of the Division involving other FDIC offices and divisions, and on behalf of the Corporation as a whole, involving a potentially wide range of outside groups, including other regulatory agencies and the public.
Reviews and coordinates the work of other technical specialists to develop conclusions and presents the results of the analysis.
Aids in the coordination of project work assignments across the Division. Prepares various reports regarding the progress and status of such assignments.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify for the CG-13: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing, interpreting financial and statistical calculations related to the financial services industry, compiling information and writing about the banking industry.
To qualify for the CG-14: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-13 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing, interpreting financial and statistical calculations related to the financial services industry; compiling information for and writing about the banking industry and leading projects involving financial and economic analyses from multiple sources.
