This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Deposit Insurance and Risk Analysis (DIRA) of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $280,000.
Duties
Serves as a subject matter expert to create reports that synthesize complex analysis to improve and coordinate responses associated with risk management practices in: bank lending products and services, to include both commercial and real estate; geographical business models and market structures; economic and financial market developments; and consolidation trends.
Coordinates analytical concepts and highly complex or controversial issues across the DIRA staff and within various divisions of the Corporation for communication to government agencies, state regulators, senior management of insured institutions, and the public.
Develops, tests, and refines analytical processes to ensure analytical rigor and consistency of methodology, especially during times of heightened stress in the banking industry.
Leads analytical and writing efforts, especially for external publications such as Quarterly Banking Profile, Risk Review, and FDIC Quarterly articles, and special projects such as the Community Bank Study.
Represents DIRA in internal and external working groups and at industry outreach events that require expert analysis of complex risk issues and strong communication skills.
Conducts horizontal reviews of banking and economic conditions to understand, stratify, and compare performance and trends across bank size, business model, charter type, funding structure, and geographic footprint, in support of the identification and monitoring of existing and emerging risks.
Provides training and mentoring on analytical processes and technical methods for analysts within DIRA.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Leadership Experience: Experience in leading and coordinating projects, including establishing expectations, reviewing work products/services, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and feedback to team members.
Technical Experience: Experience in identifying, analyzing, and presenting financial information pertaining to emerging and existing systemic risk; serving as a project leader for large-scale external publications; and using financial data, ranging from micro to macro level, to produce local, state, and regional economic trends and developments and establish appropriate links to national events or effects.
