This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA - Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Prepares calibration reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections factors, and measurement uncertainty for instruments being calibrated. Assists and advises users in the application of, and calibration requirements for TMDE in support of their mission. Implements, adapts, modifies and occasionally develops technical procedures required by changing user or equipment requirements. Identifies and documents errors in existing procedures and provides information used for the development of technical documents used for TMDE calibration and certification. Serves, as the workload dictates, as a specialist in physical/dimensional and ionizing radiation calibration. Performs other duties as assign.

  • Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common duties of repairing test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), interpreting schematics, and applying electronic theories in collecting measurement data. Assist in the use of instrument application and calibration requirements for equipment. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
