About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency (DHA) NC Coastal Market serving as a Psychiatry Residency Program and Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) assistant performing a variety of administrative duties to support the respective Program Directors at the Naval Medical Center Camp LeJeune.
Duties
Assist the Program Directors in administering the Residency and Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) programs by providing technical and administrative support in the areas of accreditation, program requirements, and academic records.
Manage Residency Program in coordination with partner program coordinator and IPAP resource requirements to include estimates for TDY, travel, contract costs, and necessary equipment and supplies.
Develop and maintain suspense files to ensure compliance with scheduled formal performance evaluation requirements established by medical oversight committees.
Prepare the assignment rotation rosters for residents and interns utilizing individual preference statements along with curricula and plans developed by the faculty.
Maintain and keep abreast of various regulations, publications, correspondence, and related guides covering Medical Education Programs and associated administrative activities.
Assist the Program Director in recruiting, maintaining active interviewee list, overseeing maintenance of recruitment materials provided to applicants, and overseeing scheduling candidate interviews.
Assist the Program Directors with preparatory activities preliminary to on-site formal visits required for program accreditation.
Use database software to enter, revise, sort and retrieve data for training files system, historical training files, and tracking results of resident board certifying examinations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96 the position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, 1) Providing administrative support services or assistance in a Medical Treatment Facility advising on areas which affect personnel management, to include recruitment, preparing correspondence and reports for higher-level leaders; 2) Perform scheduling and/or personnel tasks utilizing automated systems; 3) Monitoring and conducting rotations, academic curriculum, internship, residency, exams and certifications; and 4) Maintaining leave records of staff.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Operational Management, Human Resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
