This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence-Office of Foreign Assets Control, OFAC. As a Government Information Specialist, you will be responsible for all administrative and support functions associated with the FOIA process.

Duties

Please refer to that announcement for details on open period, eligibility, and how to apply. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Evaluates legislation, regulations, and Treasury policy to assess program compliance. Identifies workflow and management issues within the FOIA and Records management request process. Measures office responsiveness to FOIA/Records request in order to ensure compliance with regulatory timelines and report of metrics. Coordinates with other Treasury offices and with other Federal agencies, such as the FBI, State Department, Justice Department, CIA, Commerce Department, Customs Service, National Security Council, and the National Archives and Records Administration in the processing of OFAC equities in other agency documents and other agency information in OFAC documents.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:For the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as ALL of the following; In-processes all incoming correspondence and requests for an organization. Examples of this would include but not be limited to uploading correspondence to appropriate systems; opening new electronic case files; answering special requests and acknowledging receipt of correspondence; AND Out-processing all organizational cases. Examples of this would include but not be limited to examining organizational databases to determine completeness and accuracy of data input; closing out all organizational systems; processing appropriate electronic records to other Treasury component systems; AND Acting as organizational public liaison. Examples would include but not be limited to researching and answering inquiries from the general public; routing inquiries to the appropriate organizational personnel for action; documenting inquiries and responses in appropriate case files; AND Maintaining organizational databases. Examples would include but not be limited to ensuring the integrity of the organizational databases by frequent monitoring accuracy and completeness of entries; updating database entries as required; manipulating data to ensure accuracy and fidelity of data; AND Reporting functions: Examples include but are not limited to maintain all organizational reports; timely and accurately updating reports as required; obtaining data for organizational reports timely and accurately; posting all reports to appropriate locations timely and accurately; AND Autonomous: Operates independently. For the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as ALL of the following; In-processes all incoming correspondence and requests for an organization. For the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Reviewing agency records and updating databases; AND Communicating with the public and using time management to expedite responses to requests. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the position; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., if related to the position; OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
