About the Position: This is a permanent position with the Directorate of Human Resources Military Personnel Division (MPD) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Duties
The employee provides clerical support to ensure efficient office operations.
Uses good judgment to answer recurring questions and resolve clerical and administrative problems.
The employee provides support to maintain the DEERS/RAPIDS automated system, used to manage service members both locally and service wide.
Provides technical guidance and training to all supported activities. Resolves error reports and hardware problems and maintains property accountability.
Coordinates actions, system problems, and updates with higher headquarters.
Interviews personnel to obtain data needed to complete actions.
Conducts briefings to review individual eligibility for reassignment, counsel individuals, prepare orders, processes deletion/deferment requests, and processes HQDA Enlisted No-Show reports for Personnel Change of Station (PCS) timeliness.
Give on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Functions is multiple areas of Military HR including but not limited to, Officer and Enlisted Personnel Manning, Contingency/Mobilization Operations Support, Installation E-MILPO, Personnel Processing, Soldier Actions, Personnel Records Management.
Functions is multiple areas of Military HR including but not limited to, Reassignments and Retirements/Transition Services, In/Out processing, Separations, Student/Trainee Support.
Manages the Defense Eligibility and Enrollment Reporting System/Random Access Personnel Information System (DEERS/RAPIDS) program.
Serves as leader and final reviewer of routine actions completed by lower-level clerks and independently processes actions which involve unusual or complex procedural or substantive issues.
Distribute and balance workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy.
Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
Report to supervisor on performance; progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- his position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- The employee may be required to work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- Employee must be willing and able to travel in military and commercial aircraft and vehicles; less than 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: reviewing others work, reviewing military personnel data, ensuring accuracy and completeness; examining a wide variety of military personnel records and forms to verify eligibility; utilizing automated military personnel database systems such as Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), Real-Time Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS), Electronic Military Personnel Office (EMILPO), Enlisted Distribution Assignment System (EDAS), Total Officer Personnel Management Information System (TOPMISS II), or Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS), to review and update information; processing official documents for Active Duty, Retirees, Reserve/Guard, Foreign Military or Family members, such as ID Cards, military records or personnel actions; utilizing a wide variety of procedures, reports, and technical guides used in military personnel to provide advice and assistance on requirements for processing personnel records or actions and maintaining required files and reporting data.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
