About the Position: Serves as an Operations Specialist in the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Headquarters Command Center in Fort Liberty, NC.

Duties

As Shift Leader, responsible for a shift in the USASOC 24/7 Command’s Telecommunications Center. Analyzes, receives, and disseminates operational DoD AMHS messages. Manages the operations of the world-wide GCCS Common Operational Picture (COP), the DoD Automated Message Handling System (AMHS), the command-wide Contact Portal application, and the Deployed Forces Database (DEPREP). Performs action officer duties serves as the primary Action Officer in the Crisis Response Cell. Conducts coordination to deploy USASOC forces in support of the regional Global Combatant Commanders (GCC). Manages personnel and material assets in accomplishing duties, tasks, and responsibilities, to include directing operations on assigned shift. Prepares and processes Emergency Action Messages. Reviews, comments, and provides recommendations to regulations, studies, staff papers, and other documents related to operational issues. Prepares and presents written and verbal information and decision briefings for the DCS, G3 and Commanding General based upon research and analysis of operational issues.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SSBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • This is a drug testing designated position. In accordance with AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent must successfully pass a urinalysis screening prior to the appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • TDY Travel is required 10% of the time.
  • Position is designated Weather Essential.
  • Employee will be required to remain on duty during inclement weather situations until properly relieved and will be required to report for duty during inclement weather and emergency situations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-11.
