You will serve as a PERSONNEL RECOVERY SPECIALIST within HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Duties

You will coordinate requests for exercises, training, and special events for personnel recovery operations. You will develop personnel recovery plans in support of exercises and missions in your area of responsibility. You will identify, validate, document, prioritize and staff Personnel Recovery requirements in accordance with guidance and procedures. You will interpret Personnel Recovery policy for integration into comprehensive Personnel Recovery guidance, directives, and procedures. You will coordinate intelligence support requirements for personnel recovery operations through the production of intelligence, mapping, charting, and geodesy products.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Developing, coordinating, recommending, and implementing Personnel Recovery plans in support of operations and exercises to protect national interests and resources. 2) Advising and assisting in the facilitation and oversight of doctrine and policy issues impacting personnel recovery planning, training, operational support and development. 3) Coordinating requests for exercises, training, special events, and conducting workshops. 4) Coordinating search and rescue operations across multiple organizations to affect the rescue of isolated personnel. 5) Writing information papers and briefings for staff actions, operations and activities.
