You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the Fire and Emergency Services Div. of COMMANDER NAVY REGION MARIANAS. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will perform testing on fire protection systems (e.g. alarm system and fire suppression system) to determine operational condition. You will conduct fire protection and prevention education and training programs to elicit support and involvement in fire prevention, detection, and suppression. You will conduct fire inspections to ensure fire prevention program is compliance and reporting conditions found. You will participate in the Fire Protection Engineer inspections of new construction, alteration, and elimination of built-in hazards of structures to ensure compliance with regulations. You will comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of work environment.

• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing fire inspections and deploying comprehensive fire prevention programs. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Education/Training: Appropriate firefighter training may be substituted for experience on a month-for-month basis.

Successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with major study in Fire Science, Fire Training, or other related fields of study is qualifying for GS-5.
