This position is located in Facility/Infrastructure Services (FIS), Office of IT Services Management (OITSM), Center for Information Technology (CIT), National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Duties

Managing or participating in special projects that have a significant impact on the delivery of customer support services. Developing and updating customer policies and procedures to ensure appropriate responses to future incidents of a similar nature. Implementing methods to upgrade or enhance the level of services provided. Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Analyzing, designing, developing, customizing, and implementing a range of hardware and software to support large-scale LAN/WAN systems. Providing technical advice and assistance regarding automated information technology marketing trends and developments. Developing plans, procedures, and checklists to ensure the operational readiness of mission equipment and personnel.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
  • Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements within thirty (30) calendar days of the closing date of this announcement, including time in grade.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that possess each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations, AND,1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT-related tasks such as: providing customer support and configuration management for IT facilities and infrastructure services and systems; administering IT systems, including resolving interface or interoperability problems; providing guidance on policies, procedures, or requirements for IT facilities and infrastructure; administering local area/wide area networks; performing equipment analysis to support hardware acquisitions; and providing client support services for executing IT facilities and infrastructure services.
