About the Position: This position supports the Director for Education, Research, and Repository Operations, Department of Defense Central Cancer Registry Duty Station: Joint Pathology Center, Bethesda, MD, located at WRNMMC grounds.

Duties
Collaborate with the Joint Pathology Center (JPC) registry team on problems, procedures, and methods of collecting and retrieving data and perform research studies, workload statistics, and projects.
Analyze research data to prepare reports and data files to fulfill Department of Defense (DoD) Cancer Registry research requests.
Manage operations of the Cancer Registry and coordinate functions of the registry.
Advise on and perform a wide range of technical and administrative duties, involved in the development, analysis, maintenance and use of diagnostic and therapeutic cancer data.
Support the Director with clinical data collection from the medical records on Joint Pathology Center patients to help in the modernization of the repository and selected IRB approved research.
Plan, organize, and implement a systematic cancer data program system in compliance with ethical and legal requirements and in accordance with the Commission on Cancer, American College of Surgeon guidelines, and DoD Cancer instructions.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes accessing records from a computerized database and assisting with preparing and providing reports related to cancer/research data. Although not required, management will take into account certification as a tumor registrar and experience with: Oncolog or similar registry software, data sharing agreements (DSA), professional writing, research/IRB submissions, MHS Genesis, Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV), and MS Suite. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
