You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MIL) in the HEADQUARTERS, U.S. MARINE CORPS, OF MANPOWER AND RESERVE AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT.
Duties
You will apply appropriate regulations and guidelines associated with awarding military decorations, medals and ribbons within the Department of the
Navy
You will perform administrative and technical support functions related to the processing of military awards.
You will research, audit, correct and process a variety of personnel actions pertaining to military awards.
You will utilize various databases (e.g. iAPS, ACMS, DCIPS, ORMA, MOL, NDAWS) to update, verify, research, and extract data.
You will respond to telephone calls and emails from, active-duty, retired and veteran Marines or their next of kin with questions regarding policy and
processes.
You will verify military award entitlements by researching current and historical records.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing clerical support and attention to detail such as finding potential background screening risks, reviewing documents for errors, and/or processing applicant packages for commissioning programs (e.g. Marine Corps Officer Programs - the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC), the Officer Candidates Class (OCC), or similar programs).
