The incumbent serves as a Transportation Assistant - Transportation Coordinator and acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs. The incumbent works with the Hero Transportation Service for workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation, and ongoing operational flow of the Hero Transportation Service program.

Duties

The coordination of transportation function is multi-faceted and diverse. The three major areas of responsibility are: (1) Scheduling, Data Collection, & Tracking Support; (2) Consult Management responsibilities; (3) Program Support responsibilities. The incumbent must have knowledge of clinical services, related software, and programs as they relate to clinical computing and office automation. Major duties include but are not limited to: Review records and ensure fleet compliance of the Motor Vehicle Policy at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Knowledge in tracking vehicle expenses, and income to identify trends for further review. Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Utilize and monitor the GSA vehicle tracking programs such as FAST and determine proper vehicle usage. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Compiles and analyzes statistical data and determines vehicle underutilization rates for the VISN and the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Planning responsibilities require consideration of support services e.g., systems management, operations, workload forecasting, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies, vehicle maintenance and repair, etc. Compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of an organization's program operation. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track suspense's on items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc. Coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources. Reviews documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/08/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Possess the ability to deal effectively with problems, issues, and situations and to establisha nd maintain effective working relationships which contribute to the attainment of organizational and service goals. Possess the ability to meet, communicate and deal effectively with a diverse staff from many education and skill levels. Possess the ability to prepare and produce written instructions and a variety of other correspondence. Demonstrate the ability to manage emergency situations and provide multiple avenues for customers to submit documentation and information. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the access, review and structure of Electronic Medical Records systems. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Software to include Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes. He/she may be required to work alternate tours to support program goals in providing services that meet the needs of the Veterans.
