The primary responsibility of positions within the Warranty Section is maintenance, refurbishment, repair and accountability of all laptop devices and peripherals by using cost-effective measures and apply appropriate security standards set forth by the Agency. This position will serve as an IT Specialist in steady state and disaster operations that solely supports the FEMA disaster mission by performing technical tasks in a complex environment with a wide-ranging IT components.

Duties

What will I do in this position if hired? This position is located in Mission Support, Office of Chief Information Officer, Operations, IT Disaster Operations, Tech Lab, Warranty Support. The Tech Lab mission is to provide configuration, maintenance, and repair of IT assets located at the Disaster Information Systems Clearinghouse, while providing Tier II & Tier III support for all end user computing devices.

To qualify for this IT Specialist position at the IC-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Imaging laptops, iPads, tablets, etc. and configuring applications such as Microsoft Office, Windows OS, and anti-virus software. Troubleshooting hardware and software applications Executing maintenance and repair of IT hardware in accordance with warranty standards Individual Occupational Requirement: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirements to be considered qualified for the position. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. and Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
