Duties
The incumbent serves as a principal member of the integrated technical project team responsible for conceptualizing, designing, developing, and deploying the automated information systems.
The incumbent is the Database Administrator (DBA) for the IFCC, responsible for the design, development and implementation of major new advances in state-of-the-art database environment to focus specifically on Oracle software to solve FBI support requirements.
Responsible for the identification and implementation of major new advances in state-of-the-art computer science and database technological innovations uniquely applied to solve cyber investigative and support requirements within the arena of systems and networks.
Responsible for coordinating with application programmers to provide appropriate Structured Query Language (SQL) calls to obtain needed data from the SQL databases.
Maintains statistics/on database usage and performance, and generates statistics for use by case managers and for presentation on the Web page regarding database content.
Plans strategy for and directs activities for systems, which includes defining requirements, project objectives, systems plan documentation, resource estimates, accomplishments, benefits and schedules.
Assigns project functions and tasks to lower-graded team member(s) based on skills, abilities and overall objectives.
Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries.
Stay updated on the latest database technologies and trends, particularly in cloud space.
Implement and maintain databases in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Qualifications
GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Ability to lead, direct and coordinate work efforts to fulfill project requirements in a timely and successful manner.
Knowledge of the current direction and management of Automatic Data Processing (ADP) projects across the system life cycle characterized by technological complexity to address critical objectives in the development of new computer science/analytical techniques.
Detailed knowledge of Oracle products and extensions, to investigate, analyze and evaluate new Oracle products for possible future project integration.
Ability to foresee and correct design and implementation problems before they cause system failures.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or other cloud providers.
Experiences with cloud tools such as AWS Lambda, Azure DevOps, or containerization tools.

Experience working across multiple platforms or operating systems and servers in Oracle Products.
Have knowledge of cloud-based databases such as Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, or Aurora.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-14 level.
