You will serve as a PROTOCOL OFFICER in the Special Staff Division of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

You will manage the command's protocol program with full technical authority, which encompasses program development, planning, execution, and evaluation. You will review protocol initiatives for responsiveness to command requirements and assures continued responsiveness to changing conditions by furnishing appropriate guidance both formally and informally to the staff and subordinate elements. You will determine the need to develop revised or improved protocol plans. You will manage the planning, coordination, and execution of all protocol aspects of visits of high-ranking U.S. and foreign dignitaries. You will develop a comprehensive concept of execution for each event, formalizes the concept into a manageable plan and briefs the staff and other pertinent agencies. You will determine the classified material that may be encountered and requirements for its security. You will respond to requests for advice and assistance in all matters/activities relative to proper protocol procedures. You will coordinate and consolidates initiatives, plans, and actions for the MCCDC/CDI and the MSEs into an integrated protocol program.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector Coordinate and integrate of work assignments and includes allocating resources to projects as well as implementing and developing procedures that will enhance the efficiency and economy of program operations.
