You will serve as an EQUAL EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST in the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) of NCIS.
All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties
You will carry out and evaluate an equal opportunity program that focuses on the solution of problems and elimination of barriers.
You will collaborate with the employee in developing approaches to unusual or sensitive problems.
You will advise management and coordinate with Human Resources on their responsibilities of reasonable accommodation efforts.
You will be responsible for the planning, developing, and implementation of a centralized process for all requests for reasonable accommodation and associated medical placement efforts.
You will manage efforts to identify and eliminate barriers to equal opportunity in the workforce and apply policies and directives issued by OPM, DOD, DON, and EEO.
You will develop strategies to overcome identified barriers in the agency's Affirmative Action Program.
You will identify potential employment barriers in the areas of recruitment, hiring, promotion, career development, reasonable accommodations, and retention affecting the full representation of protected groups.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
GS 13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Interpreting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies/procedures, laws or regulations and analyzing an EEO program for compliance with established regulations;
Collaborating with agency personnel to provide guidance on reasonable accommodations;
Advising managers and/or employees on EEO policies/procedures, and laws/regulations.
GS 12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Interpreting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies/procedures, laws or regulations;
Performing counseling and/or advisory services to supervisors and employees;
Gathering and performing analysis of EEO workforce data for reports.
