About the Position: This is a PERMANENT Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation) position with the Military Personnel Division located at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Duties

Maintain an automated internal suspense log to ensure timely submission of employee personnel or payroll transactions. Monitor internal suspense files to ensure timely completion of taskings. Monitor human resources information systems for error conditions, updates, or downloads. Enter or retrieve information from a human resources information system. Provide assistance to customers in response to routine human resource questions. Explain personnel policies, standards, and guidelines to assist customers with questions. Accurately input data into human resources systems to effect personnel actions. Check source information to ensure it is complete and accurate before proceeding with an action.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of human resources military administrative support duties including answering customer inquiries, preparing correspondence, performing records management, and/or operation of automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). Advancement requirement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
