About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant (HR Asst) in the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) Military Personnel Division (MPD).
Duties
Provide advice, assistance, and guidance to a wide range of recurring personnel transactions.
Interview in-transit military personnel who have problems on personnel issues.
Monitor reports received and notify supervisor when IPPS-A and TRANSPROC are not processing as programmed.
Performs a variety of clerical duties associated with all services necessary for the PCS travel.
Implements policies pertaining to enlisted evaluation reports.
Serves as a final reviewer of eligibility or entitlement determinations on various personnel action.
Prepares correspondence of a routine, standardized and technical nature.
Composes correspondence pertaining to military personnel administration with information from personnel records or personal interviews.
Updates the IPPS-A and TRANSPROC database with current personnel management/strength accounting information.
Uses electronic systems to create a variety of forms and correspondence and maintain or extract data from military personnel files.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%
- May be required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing military human resources support and guidance; applying military human resources rules and regulations, policies, and operations to perform a full range of assignments; performing military human resource tasks related to personnel accounting and strength management reports; using human resources automated systems dedicated to the management of soldiers to input and retrieve data.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
