The Supervisory Social worker is responsible for supervision, clinical and administrative program development/evaluation, clinical social work service delivery, and patient flow in the areas of Primary and Specialty Care and must have knowledge and understanding of the Patient Aligned Care Team model. The selected candidate will serve as a Supervisory Social Worker within the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, at the Jacksonville Outpatient Clinic.

The Supervisory Social Worker (SSW) is responsible for completing the following duties/responsibilities:
The Supervisory Social worker will be required to drive and/or travel using personal vehicle or government vehicle to other sites of care within the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, as well as, to community partners, as necessary to accomplish work assigned, but will be based out of Jacksonville, Florida.
Other duties of the Supervisory Social worker include:
Supervising up to 20 professional Master's level clinical social workers across various OPC/CBOCs.
Monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the clinical social workers and/or multi-disciplinary staff of the assigned programs.
Planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; providing guidelines as to the general policy and direction of the Social Work Service.
Using advanced knowledge and mastery of theories and modalities in the treatment of complex medical conditions and mental illness of Veteran patients.
Using a wide range of knowledge of VA healthcare services, benefits, directives, policies, and personnel to provide guidelines for the care of Veterans diagnosis with medical and/or mental health conditions.
Determining and recommending budgetary needs of assigned programs.
Providing consultation and collaboration to other services, care line managers and others on social work related topics.
Creating quality improvement activities, to include effective/efficient treatment services provided for all programs, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use.
Managing and controlling the use of data related to all programs regarding day-to-day functioning, program evaluation and annual reports to allocate resources and shift personnel as needed for the operation of assigned programs.
Providing training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of assigned programs.
Developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services.
Briefing management orally and in writing concerning matters related to assigned programs to provide information required to make effective decisions for program planning and service delivery.
Working closely with clinical informatics, MAS and other services on clinical consultation and documentation needs.
Working knowledge of computers, CPRS, and the VISTA menu and proficiency in creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email, other MS Office products, VA programs, or other pertinent computer software programs required to perform full range of job duties.
Addressing conflicts and problems in dealing with customers constructively and appropriately.
Collaborating with divergent multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
Performing other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully
accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of
social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work.
Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found by going to http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/.
English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written
English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. The candidate's qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade.
Experience and Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision,
consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.
Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social
workers.
Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on
pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion.
Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement
solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage
workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service.
Ability to provide staff training and development.
Assignment: For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Supervisory social workers at the GS-13 grade level typically supervise professional and non-professional staff. They are responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social
work service, in a care/product line, or across multiple sites, (e.g., multi-division facilities and CBOCs). Incumbent may also provide direct clinical services.]
Preferred Experience: Candidates should possess at least 3 years of progressively responsible clinical social work in a medical and/or mental health setting, providing services to clients with complex case management and care coordination needs. Preferred experience working with multidisciplinary teams and providing supervision, training, and case consultation to clinical social workers.

Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 lbs.); light carrying (under 15 lbs.); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; walking (intermittent); standing (intermittent); hearing (aid permitted); clear speech.
