The Supervisory Social Worker within the North Florida/South Georgia Veteran Health System, will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining program policy and procedures for treatment and coordination of care of Veterans that meet VA, Joint Commission, CARF, and other regulatory standards for assigned programs. The North Florida/South Georgia Health System is a very large level 1a facility serving approximately 140,000 Veterans each year.
Duties
The Supervisory Social Worker primary responsibility is to provide clinical and administrative leadership, management and supervision up to 20 professional Master's level clinical social workers across various OPC/CBOCs. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides psychosocial and psychiatric specialized treatment to various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds.
Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, use of medical -center resources, patient demographics, resources utilization, and patient satisfaction.
Manages and approves electronic clinical record templates, consult needs, and consult tracking systems that meet the needs for care of Veterans.
Plans training and educational activities to increase awareness of clinical social work practice, support options, and the programs offered through VA and community resources.
Responsible for advising Service Chief, other Social Work Service Managers, local management and/or others of specific clinical and administrative issues within Ambulatory Care Services, Social Work Service, within the Medical Center, within VISN and VACO levels and other.
Participates in the MSW training programming and ensure MSW students receive appropriate knowledge, learning opportunity and Field Instructors within assigned areas are providing appropriate supervision.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Master's degree in Social Work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. Note: A doctoral degree in Social Work may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in Social Work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work.
Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements stated above, the following qualification criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates.
GS-13, Supervisory SW Grade Determination:
Experience and Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines
Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation, with other departments and quality improvement
Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers
Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion
Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service
Ability to provide staff training and development
