The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Highly Qualified Expert Senior Mentor for HQ Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, VA.
Duties
Reports directly to the Commander, Air Combat Command (ACC) in discharging the following responsibilities:
Air Force and Joint Operational-level Exercises: Participates and advises in pre-exercise events, including the concept development conference, the training academic phase, and the crisis action planning phase, as well as the exercise execution.
Air Force and Command and Control Academic Courses: Lecture, brief, observe, monitor, attend, facilitate, provide feedback, and further contribute to government-identified Air Force Command and Control courses, as required, and scheduled. These courses include but are not limited to Combined Air and Space Operations Senior Staff Courses and Air Component Senior Leader Courses. Participate in the development of overall course lesson plans and be responsible for the development of all training blocks presented in the various courses. Provide feedback on the general quality of the overall course and specific quality of the academic blocks of instruction they attended. Coordinate the schedule with the government in advance of scheduled events.
Miscellaneous Tasking: Attend Senior Mentor Training Seminars, CSAF/ACC Commander Senior Mentor Training Seminars, USAF Doctrine Summits, and other government-designated Operational Command Training Program (OCTP) events as scheduled and coordinated between the OCTP staff and the event sponsor. Such events may include participation in USAF and Joint events sponsored and funded outside of ACC, but designated as OCTP events due to the nature, focus and objectives of the event. Participation in such events will be at the government's discretion, contingent on the OCTP Senior Mentor's role, event objectives, and scheduling and funding. The OCTP Senior Mentor may support other Combatant Commands, Service, and MAJCOM events with appropriate reimbursement from the sponsoring organization on a case-by-case basis. The OCTP Senior Mentor will provide updated schedule availability information to the 505 CCW OCTP Scheduler/Coordinator throughout the performance period.

- Position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Position requires the incumbent sign a Drug Testing letter and pass urinalysis testing prior to appointment.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TOP SECRET/SCI Security clearance
- Active Duty Military Members must indicate retirement eligibility
- Disclosure of Political Appointments
- EXECUTIVE PERSONNEL FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORT (Standard Form 278). Selected candidate must file this report in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
Qualifications
Eligibility will be based upon a clear showing the applicant has training, education and experience of the scope and quality sufficient to effectively carry-out the duties of the position. This is a Highly Qualified Expert Senior Mentor position and Command and Control experience is highly desired. HQE SMs possess knowledge and ability to provide experience-based mentoring, teaching, training, advice and recommendations to senior military officers. This experience normally resides with prior General/Flag Officers who possess this level of expertise, training, education and experience in operational planning, warfighting and decision-making exercises.
