You will serve as a PIPEFITTER in the PIPE SHOP (56A), HULL DIVISION (TRF-310), REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-300), TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY (TRIREFFAC) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will remove, maintain, and repair piping systems and equipment of submarines.
You will install piping assemblies and components aboard submarines.
You will plan and lay out the routing. placement, pitch, elevation, and operation of various piping system and equipment
You will assemble high pressure hose systems for hydraulics, oil and water.
You will remove, maintain and test tank level indicators in accordance with established procedures.

Experience removing and installing piping systems and equipment of submarines;
Experience maintaining and repairing piping systems and equipment of submarines;
Experience replacing piping components such as valves, strainers, etc.;
Experience preparing piping systems for welding;
Experience disassembling, maintaining, cleaning, and assembling hose systems for hydraulics, oil, water, etc.;
Experience preparing equipment and components for subsequent installation.
Experience inspecting completed items for adherence to required specifications;
Experience utilizing a variety of pipefitting tools such as grinders, brazing torch, measuring tools, hydraulic pipe benders, silver solder, etc. to complete work assigned;
Experience performing testing on repaired and installed piping systems, heat exchangers, and condensers for proper functional capability;
Experience operating chemical flushing rigs to clean piping systems and components.
Experience determining adequacy of existing pipe hangers and replaces when necessary;
Experience removing, maintaining, and testing tank level indicators in accordance with established procedures; and
Experience reading, researching, and interpreting basic or complex blueprints, instructions, and specifications to perform pipefitting work assigned.
