This position is in the Excepted Service under U.S.C. 50 § 3024(v) and appointments are made without regard to the requirements of the Competitive Service by laws, Executive order, or OPM regulations.
This position is located in the Levant, Israel North Africa Division, Office of Analysis for the Near East Affairs, Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR/NEA/LINA).
Duties
Serves as an expert Intelligence Research Specialist responsible for providing all-source intelligence analysis on Egypt with respect to internal affairs and foreign policy.
Represents the Department in interagency meetings, provides guidance to Department policymakers, briefs key stakeholders in the U.S. Congress, and serves as an expert in various intergovernmental and non-governmental fora.
Advises on and performs intelligence research bearing on US relations with foreign governments and international organizations.
Serves as the Department’s lead officer in implementing intelligence support for regional and country-specific issues as they pertain to the countries in the assigned geographic or functional specialty area.
Requirements

- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing advice, guidance, and consultation on intelligence to senior policy makers at the Department and U.S. Government agencies, including relevant Intelligence Community (IC) agencies.
Experience providing briefings on program-related issues to senior officials.
Experience drafting all source IC products including items for the President's Daily Briefing (PDB) and the National Intelligence Council (NIC).
Experience drafting and editing written products such as memoranda, background papers, and intelligence policy documents.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
