You will serve as a Firefighter in the Fire and Emergency Services of NAS KINGSVILLE TX. SALARY RANGE FOR GS-06: $42,238 - $54,906 SALARY RANGE FOR GS-05: $37,890 - $49,262

Duties

You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident. You will drive a firefighting vehicle (e.g., pumper, aerial ladder truck, rescue truck, brush truck, quick-attack vehicle, airport rescue fire fighting vehicle) to the scene of a fire. You will perform an initial patient assessment in a medical emergency. You will perform structural firefighting duties for facilities to minimize fire damage. You will performing functional tests and inspections on firefighting equipment and fire station facilities.

Qualifications

FOR GS 06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department brigade performing any of the following tasks; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Operating fire communications equipment; and 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. ***CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-06*** This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, HazMat Operations, Driver Operator Pumper, and Driver Operator ARFF. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) The following certification, if not already held, must be obtained within 12 months of hire as mandatory condition of position: Driver Operator Aerial. Education

Have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
