About the Position: This position is located at Ft. Novosel Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding area for family and fun. This is a Term NTE 2 Year position. This position is Obligated.

Duties

Serve as instructor for the Maneuver Support Instruction section within the Combined Arms Division (CAD); and is the subject matter expert in advanced maneuver combat arms and supporting elements (infantry, armor, and aviation). Conduct training on all specified Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Common Core and U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) shared tasks for professional development courses. Instruct military officers attending the Aviation Captain's Career Course, Basic Officer Leadership Course, Aviation Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Warrant Officer Basic Course and Tactical Operations Course on all facets of maneuver combat arms. Exercise responsibility in the development, redesign, technical accuracy and quality control of the programs of instruction, course curriculum, and training devices. Provide subject matter expertise to the development, implementation, or management of training courses in assigned competency. Provide analytical research in persuasive writing for publications, public speaking and public affairs. Develop training materials for all assigned subjects to include all Programs of Instruction (POI), lesson plans, instructional materials, and testing methods for tactics and communications. Evaluate educational practices and trends within the field and implements improvements in curriculum content, educational philosophy, and instructional procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Instructor training certification, Common Faculty Development per TRADOC regulation 350-70 within six months of employment, personnel who are assigned to a faculty position will re-certify every five years.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) providing classroom instruction in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment; 2) determining instructional approach and developing course content and student evaluations; 3) developing or reviewing training/course materials, aids, devices, and evaluation of training results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education (You must submit a copy of our transcripts). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
