Duties
Serve as senior budget analyst with responsibility for coordinating and performing program planning, budgeting, analysis and reporting for a wide variety of functional elements and funding sources.
Advise program managers and other interested parties on the status and availability of funds on programs and all regulatory aspects and command financial management processes applicable to their programs.
Develop budget guidance, formulation methods, and execution tools.
Participate and/or lead meetings concerning the operating programs of the command and advise on the financial status of programs and business processes.
Provide on-the-job training to newly assigned analysts, and assist them with new, unusual or controversial assignments and participate in the training of interns.
Prepare requests to approve for additional funds or for revocation or reapportionment of funds.
Requirements
- This is a Financial Management Certification Level 2 position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing estimates of annual funding needs; experience assuring that obligations and expenditures of funds are in accordance with existing laws and regulations; experience recommending adjustments and redistribution of funds within budget accounts; experience evaluating changes in program funding; and experience developing recommendations for financial and/or budgetary actions . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
