About the Position: The employee works independently, handling problems and deviations in accordance with practices, and policies. Completed work is subject to occasional spot-check for soundness of conclusions and recommendations, consistency with program requirements and objectives, etc.
Duties
Issue Common Access Cards (CAC) with pertinent documentation.
Use Defense Information System for Security (DISS or SWFT), or other national security databases to verify and adjudicate security clearances.
Assist Chief or Security and Law Enforcement (sl) with Personnel and Industrial Security processing in assigned areas of responsibility concerned with protection of varying security interests.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: Manage Common Access Card stock and related consumables, maintain log of issued cards and prepare accountability reports and statements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
