You will serve as a SHIPFITTER (MATERIL HANDLER in the SHIPFITTER SHOP (TRF-312), HULL DIVISION (TRF-300), REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will work from blueprints and templates to lay out submarine structural parts such as watertight closures; shell, deck and bulkhead plates; I-beams, channel bar and angle bar; and various foundation structures and other parts.
You will locate and mark out reference lines and points such as center lines, buttocks lines, and frame lines.
You will determine work to be done and the proper techniques needed to complete assignments.
You will receive unused, less than issue unit quantities of Hazardous Material from using work center personnel.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT NORMAL SUPERVISION:
Laying out, fabricating, assembling, and installing various metal structural parts of submarines; performing a variety of related duties; Receiving materials from the supply department and performs inspection/verification of incoming material in accordance with local TRIREFFAC-KB instructions/procedures such as IPI-0610-130-00lA and system drawings; and Ensuring supply system material is identified with the NSN/NIIN (or pseudo-NSN) applied directly to the material or its individual packaging.
Segregating materials while undergoing receipt inspection using signs and/or barriers; and Reviewing documentation received with the material to identify the Job Control;
Receiving unused, less than issue unit quantities of Hazardous Material from using work center personnel; and Identifying and quantifying usage and properly stores material for later issue or properly transfers material to Satellite Accumulation Area.
Determining the receipt inspection requirements by the Automated Work Request (AWR) Job Material List (JML), determining if the material is designated for Quality Assurance inspection or for shop inspection and ensuring inspections are completed in accordance with applicable guidelines.
