This Lead Data Analyst position is located in a Regional Office of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), Grants Management and Administrative Services Division. Through the Agency's programs, FNS provides children and needy families with access to nutrition and a more healthful lifestyle. The Regional Office is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Federal nutrition assistance programs administered by State agencies and tribal organizations.

Duties
Coordinates requests for data collection, receipt of data, and storage of data within relevant policy guidelines with state agencies, Indian Tribal Organizations, Regional Offices and National Office staff.
Conducts expert-level analysis of data obtained from a variety of sources to evaluate validity and accuracy of data provided and to identify and project trends.
Leads the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinates the preparation, presentation and communication of work-related information to the supervisor.
Conducts research using a variety of data sources including information from recognized and creditable non-governmental organizations, not for profit organizations, and reports developed by congressional committees and academic studies.
Prepares special reports, briefings, and presentations concerning relevant laws and approved amendments, policy and regulatory issues, resource needs, and other organizational matters.
Requirements

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade:
Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). You must include an SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one) that supports meeting this requirement with your application package.
To qualify for the GS-13: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal and or Public Service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Organizing and planning assignments that support government office operations such as those that are involved with data analytic tools, models, methods, and techniques;
Providing oversight and technical assistance on developing analysis utilizing fiscal and/or demographic data obtained from a variety of internal/external sources; and
Communicating program data findings and recommendations orally and in written reports.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
