In this position you will work as a member of the Office of Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Field Operations Division, Physical Security Branch. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in security, security technology, and access control; customer service skills in collaboration and communication with clients and managers, proficient use of information systems and good writing skills.

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as the Security Specialist for the Office of Chief Security Officer (OCSO) and will provide Headquarters with support related to all OCSO security management activities. Typical assignments include:

Qualifications

The qualification requirements listed below must be met below: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Conducting risk assessments and implementing countermeasures. Developing and providing guidance on security policies, regulations, and procedures. Reviewing intelligence and counterintelligence reports, and conducting physical security surveys, reports and inspections. Architecting new developments and advances in security techniques, security regulations, and operating issues covering one or more security areas, such as: physical security, information, industrial, and operational force protection security programs. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standard. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience.
