The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Web Producer you will:
Uses analytical and evaluative techniques to research web traffic, customer feedback and other metrics using a variety of tools, such as, Google Analytics, ForeSee, and Optimal Suite to identify trends in content production, and website use; provide advice and guidance for enhancing customer experience.
Tests and troubleshoots website and identifies improvements to performance of the web content management system as part of system upgrades and for ease-of-use and content errors and is responsible for each element of the website and its level of quality.
Provides written and oral guidance and advice to web content providers on presentation of material and methods of validating new and current material.
Builds, edits, and publishes web pages, content blocks, and multimedia components using a Dupalbased web content management system, ensuring content and design adhere to web standards such as accessibility, plain language, editorial style and other published standards and guidelines, such as the Online Design Guide.
Consults with appropriate experts, such as designers and developers, to identify and triage content display issues, using knowledge of web publishing technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and HTML, and web content management systems.
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13
To be minimally qualified for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, GS-12. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience analyzing, evaluating and making recommendations to problems affecting large websites. Experience planning and analyzing policy in the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness and management processes and systems. Experience using web publishing technologies, to create and publish content using a WYSIWYG editor or equivalent; and hand coding and troubleshooting HTML markup. Experience with web best practices including search engine optimization, user experience, responsive platforms, cross browser platform testing and accessibility standards to ensure the website is optimized for the user experience. Experience producing and formatting web content, articles and other online content with attention to detail to perform quality assurance reviews. Experience developing websites and to discuss and resolve problems with appropriate experts, and to follow procedures governing the planning and delivery of web products and to make recommendations on critical issues affecting web production. Experience with oral and written communication to articulate findings and prepare reports.
