Duties

Provides technical support services such as planning, evaluation, testing, installation and support for DLA Enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments, including hardware, software, and networking. Coordinates software release and export procedures with management, customers, and communications personnel to ensure that communications options and software are network compatible prior to export to the customer. Serves as a technical mentor, provides guidance and informal cross training to all levels of technical support personnel, customers, and management. Serves as a liaison between the local agency, DLA, Major Subordinate Command (MSC) as well as with vendors and contractors to determine feasibility and effectiveness of Microsoft Windows Server hardware/software/communications (con't) (con't) requirements for inclusion in Joint Service Contracts. Conducts feasibility/performance studies of implementing near and long-term Microsoft Windows Server computing strategies based on technical architecture.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Provides server hardware and software support and advice to include trouble-shooting/problem resolution for Windows Server operating systems software, libraries and files. Participates in feasibility/performance studies concerning implementing near and long-term computing strategies based on standard architecture. Conducts technical evaluations to identify configurations, procedures, and/or techniques that will improve overall server efficiency and operations. Implements system diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability, integrity, and functionality of systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
