This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command, Transportation Command. The incumbent will perform technical work, studies and analyses relative to support life cycle management for the development, acquisition, integration, field support and modernization of USTRANSCOM systems and transportation-related services acquisitions.

As a ACQUISITION PROGRAM MANAGER at the NH-1101-3 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Assessing progress of assigned projects/programs including cost estimates, schedules, and performance supportability baseline requirements
Providing input into source selection and contractor monitoring of acquisition phases from development through production, deployment & contract performance.
Planning, organizing, and coordinating activities of functional specialists including contracting, engineering, manufacturing, program control, configuration/data management, test, and logistics.
Reviewing and directing the progress of contractors in meeting program objectives; taking appropriate actions to approve terms and conditions set forth in negotiations, contracting plans and budgets, subcontractor participation, and addition or discontinuance of work by the contractor.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-03 if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience at the NH-02 (GS-11) grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.
Applying laws, principles, policies, and practices of systems acquisition and program management, and integrated life cycle management.
Evaluating contractor proposals and activities.
Planning, organizing, and managing critical aspects of research, development, production, and support of subsystems or equipment.
Integrating, analyzing, and managing a variety of acquisition functions and personnel in support of the process.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
