About the Position: Incumbent serves as the Information Technology Specialist for Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Provides technical assistance to facilitate development of systems specifications, installation, expansion, conversion or rehabilitation automated communications systems.

Duties

Test, troubleshoot, modify, analyze and restore electronic equipment used in voice and data circuitry. Participate in security testing and evaluation (ST/E) as related to the security involving Configuration Management Board (CMB) approved systems. Serve as senior system administrator on the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Digital Switching System, Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) system, telephone firewall software and hardware. Perform preliminary and analytical design functions for automated communications systems performance requirements. Assist in the development and implementation of plans for telecommunications modernization.

Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist: Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing and executing existing policies, plans, programs, regulations and procedures related to effective and economical telecommunications network/data/voice systems, analyzing security system failures to determine the source of the problem, assisting in the design of system and network layouts for security systems, monitoring information systems performance to ensure that processes, security features, and operating system configurations are unaltered, Implementing and testing information systems and data backup procedures for integrity. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
