The incumbent of this position serves as Program Support Assistant under the Mental Health Service Line, for specialty programs within the department, as well as general administrative duties at the Beckley VA Medical Center (BVAMC). This highly visible position is integral to the effective implementation of VA policies, procedures, and activities associated with Suicide Prevention, Mental Health Intensive Case Management, Compensated Work Therapy, and General Mental Health programs.
Duties
Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Participate in weekly Suicide Prevention meetings, keep minutes and attendance, develop memos, assist with formatting and typing program-specific policies and procedures, compile and complete monthly mailings and assist with analyzing the CQI report numbers, track and enter that data into numerous dashboards, interpret and monitor performance metrics, and assist with coordinating outreach activities as needed. These activities may include monitoring funds, ordering supplies, inventory, etc.
Review correspondence, route to the proper staff member, and/or consults with others prior to responding to it.
Drafting initial or final correspondence to ensure that actions taken are completed accurately and that appropriate procedures are followed.
Determines if incoming correspondence should be distributed to other individuals or to other services in the hospital for preparation or review.
Uses Microsoft software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Office, Database, Publisher, etc.) effectively to complete and manage correspondence, tracking, reporting, and education initiatives.
Provide administrative support to the CWT Program as needed with timekeeping, analyzing, and monitoring financials.
Enter requests for funding through fiscal management.
Responsible for monitoring numerous spreadsheets for vehicle- monitoring, supplies, correspondence, and general record-keeping.
Act as records Liaison for Mental Health and uphold national and facility guidelines for record-keeping.'

Specialized Experience GS-06: Do you have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant at the full performance level (GS-6), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Collecting, compiling, and or tracking data and statistical information
Typing, preparing correspondence, reports, obtaining required information from various resources
Utilizing automated systems to create and modify profiles and/or settings
Answering inquiries from customers managing/screening incoming and outgoing correspondence
Developing, maintaining, monitoring spreadsheets, databases; performing data entry
Specialized Experience GS-07: Do you have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant at the full performance level (GS-7), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
