This position is located within the Veterans Administration (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5), Beckley VA Medical Center (BVAMC), Surgery Service, in the Dental Clinic Section and aids both the clinical and administrative staff. The incumbent in this position will serve as the primary administrative point of contact for the Dental Clinic and provide a wide range of administrative oversight for operations and quality control.
Duties
Oversee and coordinate the functional statement of supervisory and professional staff, including WOC staff
Research, coordinate and composes replies to routine non-clinical correspondence
Plans and develops policies, procedures, and goals, and interprets, implements, and educates staff on applicable VHA directives, handbooks, and other polices
Schedule meetings, conference calls, special orientations, presentations, program training, and equipment/supply delivery, installation, and training
Serve as one of the primary Patient Advocates for the Section, independently handling problems of a complex and sensitive nature or tactfully referring calls to other areas
Assist the Chief of Dental in planning, assessing, and evaluating programs to ensure proper coordination between care delivered by the program and overall delivery of healthcare within the facility
Perform independent annual equipment inventory
Serve as primary timekeeper for Dental department and alternate for specialty service line
Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel to gather information, formulate, and present recommendations, coordinate administrative activities to work toward short and long-range goals
Interpret policy when guidelines are missing or unclear
Utilization of logistical and human resources and interpretation of information and data in identifying ways to accomplish desired objectives within the limits of funding constraints and human resources staffing ceilings
Analyze appropriate data to optimize quality, time efficiency, cost efficiency, performance, and productivity
Performs other related duties as assigned.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Conducting independent research; coordinating and composing replies to routine non-clinical correspondence with no direction of supervisor; knowledge of PC computer equipment, printers, and software to provide staff support and to accomplish specific programs and projects, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, VISTA, and CPRS; schedule meetings, conference calls, special orientations, presentations, program training, and equipment/supply delivery, installation, and training; experience planning, determining priorities, coordinating multiple tasks, problem-solving and organization training; ability to interpret Guidelines which include VA regulations, directives, policies, procedures and reporting requirements; skill to assist the Administrative Officer and ensure accuracy, reliability and timeliness of projects performed; experience using analytical problem-solving skills to identify budgetary issues and planning. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, requiring sitting, standing, walking, bending, and carrying light objects. The position demands period of intense concentration and the ability to maintain control in difficult situations.
Work Environment: The work is performed in an office setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts and requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as receptionist area, administrative offices, and/or meeting/training rooms. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
