You will serve as a SHIPFITTER in the Hull Division of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
Duties
You will perform duties at the journey level mechanic to include ripout, alteration, repair and installation of submarine superstructures.
You will build templates for marking and making shop assembly of part and securing it with fasteners or by tank welding.
You will maintain working areas clean and safe, and lubricate and maintain tools and equipment of the trade.

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to
travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You many be required to assist other skills or function with the organization in a temporary basis.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
