You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY ASSISTANT (OA) in the VISOTOR CONTROL CENTER (VCC) of NAVBASE KITSAP SEC DET.

Duties

You will control access to restricted areas by ensuring individuals have proper clearance for access. You will coordinate processes for classified visit request to include the exchange of needed information with other government and contractor security organizations You will maintain databases containing personal or sensitive information to ensure proper protection and accountability. You will brief Branch Head and assistant on all correspondence and potential discrepancies and providing background information for policy decisions. You will compose documentation for supervisor's signature which may include correspondence, reports, charts, messages, technical papers, or briefing presentations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • Incumbent must possess a basic understanding in the application of Microsoft software programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF, and Power Point.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Maintaining a variety of Security documents and records to support the organization; 2) Providing customer service to staff and visitors in a Visitor Control Center; 3) Executing standard operating procedures which govern installation access control procedures; and 4) Use office automation software (e.g. word processing, database, spread sheet programs) to draft security documents in accordance with outlined regulations and procedures.
