The primary purpose of this position is to provide the management and supervision for 21 basic course supervisory instructors, 121 basic course instructors and l,640 Joint Fire Protection Training basic course students annually.
Duties
Supervises and manages instructors. Performs classrooms teaching as needed.
Develops, implements and monitors the effectiveness of Flight Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for emergencies, live-fire training procedures, heat stress procedures and general operational procedures.
Conducts self-inspections semi-annually.
Evaluates all basic course supervisory instructors on classroom teaching ability and conducts no-notice instructor evaluations on basic course instructors.
Attends staff meetings, conferences, briefings and seminars. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for the GS-1712, Training Instruction Series + IOR
**CCAF**
Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. Knowledge of instructional design and materials developments for assigned courses. Specialized knowledge of fire protection and hazardous materials Awareness, Operations and Technician level certification.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M. Education must have a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS- 09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to motivate, train, and work effectively with diverse subordinates. Ability to development improvements in and design new work methods and procedures. Ability to understand and further management goals Ability to plan and carry out work.
Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives Knowledge of security program responsibilities
Specialized knowledge of fire protection and hazardous materials awareness, operations, and technician level certification
Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
