This position is located within the Division of Health Professions Support (DHPS), Office of Human Resources (OHR), Indian Health Service (IHS). The incumbent will serve as the IHS Scholarship Branch Chief responsible for the administration, management and evaluation of agency program to ensure practices and activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will provide guidance on technical issues and maintain relationships with scholarship recipients and area staff.
Duties
The incumbent serves as the IHS Scholarship Branch Chief and oversees the management activities of the IHS Scholarship Program (IHSSP) to include developing, directing, and managing the IHS Preparatory, Pre-graduate, and Health Professional Scholarship Programs. The IHS Scholarship Branch Chief is responsible for administering, monitoring, and evaluating the IHS Scholarship Program authorized under the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA): Section 103 (Health Professions Preparatory Scholarship Program for Indians), Section 104 (Indian Health Professions Scholarship Program), Section 105 (IHS Externs Program), and other funded programs authorized under the IHCIA.
The Scholarship Branch Chief is responsible for advising the Deputy Director, Division of Health Professions Support and other agency stakeholders on the IHS Scholarship programs, objectives, policies, and priorities; providing leadership, direction, and oversight of agency wide scholarship programs that support the IHS organization, Tribal, and Urban programs. This essential staff member will be responsible for developing, establishing and maintaining a metric-based strategic and operational strategy to direct outreach and placement efforts to ensure a current and future high-quality workforce.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Qualifying examples of Specialized Experience, include all of the below - but is not limited to:
1. Experience managing scholarship, grant and/or loan programs to ensure administration of such programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements; AND,
2. Experience planning, coordinating, and administering scholarship, grant and/or loan program functions that support assigned customers and providing lifecycle support, execution, and management of program activities.
