This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director of Patient Care Services (ADPCS) at the Alexandria VA Health Care Center, Pineville, LA. This position performs duties in support of the Nurse Recruiter. Responsibilites require the understanding of the entire operation of Nursing service Including detailed knowledge of the department programs, regulations, onboarding process and service requirements.
Duties
Coordinates meetings and appointments using video equipment and phone conferencing lines.
Collects and compiles data to support policy development.
Prepares correspondence covering subjects of an administrative nature and performs follow-up action to ensure timely action.
Maintains an electronic monitoring system for tracking information and processes, serves as the resource person and technical advisor for those processes.
Serves as a fund control clerk by obtaining approval/disapprovals, and submitting purchase requests.
Assists with the annual inventory of property for the service; and prepares requests for office supplies and equipment.
Serve as a resource person for staff in administrative matters dealing with correct office procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Position spends majority of time at a computer; however, the position requires walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items. Prolonged sessions using a computer terminal are necessary.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify at the GS-06 grade, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or higher.
Specialized Experience: The Program Support Assistant should possess the following specialized experience:
Experience and demonstrated skill in effective verbal and written communications
Experience and skill in managing transcription, video and other forms of technology
Experience in creating and managing suspense files for meetings and Action Items
Skill in collaborating between VA and community provider agencies
Extensive computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office and various other computer applications
This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
