About the Position: This position is located at Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency DHA Puget Sound Market, Army Medical Center Madigan, Director of Surgery, Department of Surgery, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington.

Duties

Supervise employees engaged in administrative duties. Serves as an assistant to department Chief or Administrative Officer. Provide advise to personnel regarding regulations, policies, or guidelines. Provide time and schedule management assistance to the Chief. Serve as an intermediate and gatekeeper for documents thru or requiring signatures from the Chief/Administrative Officer Extract and compile data using automated systems Receive and direct all patient comments, to include complaints, to the appropriate service. Oversee clinic appointment templating and scheduling.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Human Resources Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementClericalManaging Human ResourcesPerformance Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
