Duties
Establishes administrative clerical processes and procedures used to streamline department functions.
Researches and prepares narrative and statistical material in a wide variety of formats in support of the administrative and management functions of the department.
Compiles data from varying sources to prepare recurring and non-recurring reports relating to the program.
Uses word processing software to produce a variety of documents.
Uses database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort or calculate, and retrieve data for standard reports; and uses graphics software to provide graphic symbols, charts, and graphs for viewgraphs.
Receives and screens visitors and incoming telephone calls.
Answers questions of both specific and general nature requiring a substantive knowledge of the organization and its functions referring matters of technical nature to supervisor or subordinates based on analysis of their urgency and precedent.
Sets up files, logs and records for the internal operation of the immediate office.
Utilizes spreadsheets to enter data, retrieve data, produce reports in desired formats, and print outputs. Uses e-mail messaging software to send and receive communications
Maintain a variety of office files and assist with administrative activities of the office
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position requires a qualified typist.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes performing a variety of administrative support duties such as reviewing correspondence, screening visitors, preparing travel orders, and monitoring time and attendance through an automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
