Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work for Sheridan and the CBOC's in the Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) Service Line and other sections within Geriatrics and Extended Care.
Duties
Duties, but not limited to:
Office and Administrative Support Duties 60%Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work for Sheridan and the CBOC's in the Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) Service Line and other sections within Geriatrics and Extended Care. The incumbent operates at a level of responsibility that requires independent actions with broad program directives and supervisory guidelines. These responsibilities involve:
screening requests for information, personally providing authorized information from files and records or advice on established procedures
effectively interacting with staff, top management officials, Veterans, and family members
determining the eligibility of patients for admission to the HBPC program
establishing program priorities for the successful completion of projects and expedition of correspondence within established policies and procedures.
Human Resources Assistances 40%The incumbent receives schedules, refers and contacts members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public, local agencies and local universities; screens calls and personally fields calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements; supplies the requested information when the question concerns information the employee is familiar with or can easily get (e.g. status of reports, suspense dates, procedural requirements).Established various filing systems, index, retrieval and follow through systems for inpatient quality data.
Assists leadership in preparing and maintaining statistical records regarding position vacancies, staff training, and Licensure expirations. Maintains current records for gains and losses for the care centers and reasons for such.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Performs clerical, administrative and technical program support work for the service
Makes travel arrangements, prepares and submits travel documents for staff member.
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers, constructively and appropriately
Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on projects milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
