Duties
You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Integrated Combat Systems Department, Future Combat Systems Division, Digital Combat Systems Branch (Code V14) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.
You will be responsible for advanced network operations and engineering in support of distributed test-events - including simulation and scenario development and operations, advanced prototyping and systems engineering.
You will serve as an operational subject matter expert and work with multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientist focused on all aspects of software development, analyses, design, and developmental test.
You will provide engineering support with developmental testing and analysis.
You will provide expert engineering support in the development of new systems through requirements definition and development of new interface specifications including recommendations in the form of executive briefings, white papers, and/or roadmaps.
You will support systems integration and engineering planning efforts.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This is a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 (Software Developer) at the Basic level within 12 months of appointment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-9 through GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional computer scientist applying knowledge of operating system theory, data structures, computer system architecture, software engineering, or computer communications to develop software systems.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: A degree in computer science; or a degree with at least 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these 30 semester hours must have been in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
