This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Weapons Control & Integration Department, Unmanned & Expeditionary Weapon Systems Division, Weapon Control Embedded Software Branch (Code H44) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.
Duties
You will conduct Weapon Control Systems system integration efforts, including but not limited to: developing application software, integrating electronic systems, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
You will provide leadership through mentoring, supporting Weapon Control System processes and collaborating across all functional areas within the organization and among external stakeholders.
You will follow applicable processes and guidelines for developing and integrating software systems.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This is a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 (Software Developer) at the Intermediate level within 12 months of appointment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-9 through GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional scientist applying computer science principles to design, code, or test software for naval weapon control systems.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a degree in computer science or a degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these 30 semester hours must have been in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
